Understanding Skin Care Routine For Different Ages

Taking care of your skin is as necessary as taking care of your health. There are some who consider skincare very sacred and some who take it for granted. Then there are some people who use the same product for years, and some who want fast results and resort to different creams and gels to look beautiful.

Sometimes it is surprising to know the things that people do to maintain their skin.

Understanding Skin Care Routine For Different Ages
The fact is, one single component cannot work on your skin the entire year long. As we age, our skin undergoes a different stage of metamorphosis, which demands treatment as per the age.

Right skincare routine for different ages
Ideally, a skincare routine should begin in the 20s when collagen levels in your skin start diminishing. Starting with a daily regimen, your skincare should include cleansing, moisturizing, and nighttime treatment. The 20s is the right time, to nip skin issues, while they are in the bud. Washing your face twice a day with a cleanser gets rid of oil build-up. Next step is applying moisturizer all over your face, neck, and the top of the eyes. Nighttime treatment consists of applying dermatologist-prescribed retinol lotion or over-the-counter anti-wrinkle cream.

When you are in your 30s, although you may not notice, the fact is your skin complexion will beginning to get dull, due to the result of cells developing at a slower rate. Exfoliation is a must in this phase. The skin will lose its elasticity and fine lines will be visible. Your skin basics in the 30s should include – cleansing, serum, moisturizer, and nighttime treatment. As the skin starts getting dull in the 30s, one should use a cleanser which contains hydroxy acids for increasing skin cell renewal. A serum with Vitamin C and SPF-30 can help with hyperpigmentation and diminish fine lines. The nighttime treatment should be more for under-eye skin or even retinol because it works best for fighting wrinkles.

Fine lines, wrinkles, and other skin related issues crop up during the 40s. One can continue with the same cleanser, serum/moisturizer, and nighttime treatment routine. For skin repair, use a serum which has antioxidants like Vitamin C or E. One needs to concentrate on night time routine without fail.

In the late 50s, the skin starts sagging and getting thinner, and hyperpigmentation increases. The skin care regime will be the same, starting with cleanser, serum, and nighttime treatment. Try cleansing with a creamy or milk-based cleanser to make it smooth as the skin is getting dryer.

If you have not started your daily skin care regime, it is never too late to start it. With each passing decade, your skin loses its shine. Maintaining and nourishing it will prevent it from further damage.
